"I will always remember you"
This is the story of Erik and his father.
I encountered Erik in 2023 purely by accident along the French Atlantic coast. We had never met before, yet he appeared in one of my long-exposure shots. Unable to interrupt the shot, I approached him afterward to see if I could still use the photo. When Erik viewed the image on my camera's display, he was moved to tears and shared his story with me:
For three decades, he and his father visited that pier every summer to enjoy the evening sunsets.
Week after week...
Year after year...
Sadly, Erik had lost his father just three weeks prior to our meeting. That evening, he had come to the pier to bid his father one final farewell. At their cherished spot.
Unknowingly, Erik took up two distinct poses during my long exposure:
One where he was sitting, as if to stay a while longer ....
And another standing, as though ready to leave.
